Powerkite Clinics by the Dutch Kitesurf Association (NKV)

During the final weekend (August 18th, 19th, and 20th) of the Allianz Sailing World Championships, the Dutch Kitesurf Association (NKV) will be present at Festival at Sea. The NKV will organise several fun activities for kiteboarders and everyone who wants to get acquainted with this popular watersport. All activities by the NKV are free and open to all ages!

You’re welcome to walk by from 3:00 PM to get information about safe kitesurfing and the activities of the NKV. Free brochures and fun giveaways will be available as well. In addition, the volunteers from the kitesurfing association can inform you about (the importance of) the NKV membership for kitesurfers in the Netherlands (including kitesurfing insurance).

In collaboration with kiteboardschool.nl power kite clinics will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday: flying a powerful kite on the beach. This will quickly familiarise you with the basics of kiting!

On Saturday, you’ll get a close look at the functioning of a foil kiteboard; the foil that emerges from the water, giving you the feeling of riding a ‘flying carpet’. Professional kitesurfers like Roderick Pijls and other enthusiastic kitesurfers will demonstrate foiling in the water basin at the Festival at Sea event site, powered by a winch.Curious? Make sure you come and watch from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

On Sunday, the NKV is organising a ‘Q&A Kiteboarding at Sea’ session for kitesurfers who want to (learn to) ride on the sea, led by certified kitesurfing instructor Florian van Dort (Flomo Watersports). She will tell you everything you need to know about kiteboarding at the North Sea, and you can ask all your questions to ensure you are well-prepared for your next kitesurfing session.

The power kite clinics are suitable for both young and old and will be led by professional and experienced instructors from the Dutch Kitesurf Association. In addition to the power kite clinics, the NKV (Dutch Kitesurf Association) will provide an explanation on ‘Safe Sailing on the Water’ where water sports enthusiasts can ask pressing questions and learn more about safely engaging in water sports.┬áParticipants must be a minimum of 8 years old and participate at their own risk. The NKV event will be on a walk-in basis, and people do not need to register.
